We need a community that supports building clean energy and infra projects

Community is everything.

It's challenging getting people's attention these days. But fundamentally, people have not changed. They care about community and belonging.

What we want to build out of Action Energy Market is a community of buyers, providers and investors. And before buyers become buyers, they need a community where they learn about energy improvement solutions and can benefit from social validation from others in the community. And when they are ready to move forward, they can reach out to the provider in an easy way with an offer request.

We are also a big believers in video. It's hard to make people read white papers and product descriptions, but you can learn a lot through short videos. And from others that have already implemented their energy project.

Lloyed Lobo just released a book that talks about community building and the story of how his community Traction came about.

He distinguishes between three different types of communities:

We have a vision how we combine 1 and 2 within Action Energy Market: we enable learning for Buyers (=community of practice) and community of products for Providers and Buyers. This is what we are already building and have partly up and running. Both of these communities are online only, but with human connections utilising video chats.

But we would love to have a community of play (= fun) as well. Fun requires true human connection, face-to-face. Maybe we'll start with a brown bag lunch, just here in Helsinki?
